NEWS of ESB Irish Scandles!!!
(it breaks my heart)
Vanessa,
I contacted you last week in regards to the gelding 'ESB Irish Scandal'.
Just sending you a follow up email to let you know I have purchased Scandal, & he is now safe & sound at his new home in …...
When viewing Scandal at the 'dogger's' property, he was virtually unapproachable; Unable to be caught, & once haltered a flighty, unpredictable mess that pulled back & bolted at every opportunity. Under saddle, he exploded, pitching me after approximately 30 seconds of bucking like nothing I've ever ridden before (And I've ridden saddle broncs). The 'dogger' declared him dangerous & unable to be resold, but I thought he was far too nice a type with an honest eye; Our phone conversation cemented this opinion, & on Sunday afternoon, I purchased the horse & floated him home with the intent of schooling & reselling.
The difference a few days of TLC has made to Scandal is phenominal.. I'm happy to say he's relaxing more & more each day while regaining confidence in himself. He's gone from hiding at the furtherest end of his paddock, to calling to me on sight, greeting me at the fence & standing quietly to be haltered. He's still nervy, but now seeks comfort where it's 'safe' next to me.

The chiropracter is booked for Friday as he has some serious sore sports behind the shoulder, and along the topline, & the farrier has started to slowly correct his contracted heels. I'm having his bloods run just in case, but I think he is simply vitamin deficient & underweight - After a few days of grooming, his coat has a lovely bloom. Once he's picked up condition & the chiro has given him the all clear, we'll worry about under saddle, but until then he'll continue to be spoilt rotten with ample treats & long grooming sessions.
Scandal is truly lovely; He's intelligent, sensitive & kind natured, & reminds me so much of one of my earliest & most favourite horses that regardless of how he performs under saddle, he'll be staying with me here at 'Woodbine'; 70 acres of dairy pasture where I breed, break & train Australian Stock Horses. I primarily campdraft, rodeo & campaign horses in Working Challenges, ASH Futurities, & Maturities, but have a solid background in English Equitation.. All things allowing, I'm quite excited about investigating a bit of showjumping with Scandal in the new year - Might have to hang up the Wranglers & dust off the joddies & top boots for a while, ahaha!
Any information you could give me on Scandal would be fantastic. I've included a few recent photos of him, but don't worry, his condition is picking up in leaps & bounds; I'll be sure to keep you posted with photos of his progress.
Thank you for your time, both on the phone & now, I appreciate your help.
